What does washing powder consist of?
Washing powder is an alkaline synthetic detergent, a chemical preparation used for washing clothes.
The main ingredients of washing powder are anionic surfactants, sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate, a small amount of nonionic surfactants, and some additives, phosphates, silicates, sodium sulfate, fluorescent agents, enzymes, etc., which are made by mixing, powder spraying and other processes. Most of them now use fluorite instead of phosphate. Washing powder refers to powdered (granular) synthetic detergents.

The chemical composition and function of washing powder:
Anionic surfactants: such as sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (LAS), can reduce the surface tension of water, making stains and oil stains easier to remove.
Builders: such as sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP), can improve the decontamination and suspension ability of washing powder, and prevent dirt from re-depositing on fabrics.
Enzymes: such as proteases and amylases, which can decompose organic substances such as protein and starch on clothes to remove stains.
Chelating agents: such as sodium sulfite and citric acid, which can combine with metal ions in water to prevent them from damaging clothes.
